Good grief !!! The weather stayed fair and we have now managed back to back competition in 2 consecutuve months. Brilliant.
This competition / trophy is in memory of a former TMGC captain, all round top bloke and golfer and a good friend too many of us. A singles strokeplay event with full handicap allowance – always a forerunner and good practice for our Club Championships in September. 2023 holder of the trophy Mike England could not take part this year – recovering from a full hip replacement a few weeks earlier – poor excuse, lightweight !!
Only 11 members turned up so we’ll blame the holiday season shall we !? Notwithstanding the field was a strong one with only 2 players with a handicap above 19. Wide open, scoring should be good and some sub par (net) rounds would be expected. That turned out to be the case with 7 out of the 11 players posting sub par (54) rounds – some excellent golf.
Big shout out to to Rich Burgin, Clarkey and Fred Stace all of whom sorted out the pre and post round administration and ran the competition in the absence of the usual pairing.
Onto the results….. in 3rd place (on countback) with net round of 52 Andrew Thomas (off 17) (both David Holding and Neil Butler also shot net 52). Rich Burgin came 2nd with a net 51 (off 16) and this years winner was Chris Davis with a net 50 (playing off 26). Well done to Chris.
Nearest the pin prizes went to Rich Burgin (getting boring) Hole #2 and Tom Dearden on Hole #5. Somebody walked off with the £20 raffle prize but I don’t know who – probably Rich Burgin 🙂
