Kingfisher Cup – Singles Stableford – April 25

This competition was delayed to avoid the Easter break, a good decision as the continued dried weather further improved the quality of the course. Weather was set fair and finally we had some warm sunshine to accompany us for the morning.

15 members turned out for the usual starters of coffee, tea and bacon rolls – thanks as always Sue. Nice too to see another new young face joining the throng – welcome to Daniel Spooner. Hopefully we’ll see Daniel and more of his mates joining us in the future.

A singles stableford competition off full handicap – qualifying for handicap adjustments. We expected scoring to be good in the conditions and so it proved with the top 3 all scoring 36 points or better.

Swiftly on to our winners for the day

Nearest the pin winners for a quality sleeve of golf balls were Jake Carvel and Tim Saunders. Well done fellas.

Rich Burgin never seems to leave without winning something and probably ran straight off to the pub to spend his £20 raffle prize.

On to our competition winners……….3rd place with 37 points playing off 24 was David Ball, in second place playing off 27 was young Henry Dearden with an impressive 41 points who was just pipped into second by our winner on countback Andy Thomas – his 3rd win on the trot and well deserved !! Well done Andy – I fear a handicap cut may be in the offing 😉

There were 3 2’s scored during the comp – Tom Dearden (3rd hole) , Neil Clarke (5th hole) and Andy Thomas (on the 18th !!!)
