Kingfisher Cup – Singles Stableford – July 24

Unbelievable !! Competition golf is finally back at TM. Who can believe our last club competition was on October 1st 2023 – never in the history of TM golf club have rain, ground conditions, restricted golf and cancelled golf been so bad for so long. Welcome back.

A huge thanks to all the club members and ground staff who have worked so hard to get the course playable and back to a full 9 holes.

The Kingsfisher Cup on July 7th was our first competition of 2024 (originally scheduled to be played in April) – 12 members turned up to see if their golf had withstood the test of time. It was no surprise though that the rain came yet again and ended with more standing water on the course !! Despite this conditions were not too bad and scoring was excellent with 5 players scoring 36 points or more.

In the end Steve Cooke came out as winner playing off 23 and scoring 41 points – Steve’s first TM competition win – congratulations to Steve. 4 players then came in with 36 points (par scoring) and on countback Lee Wolvey was 2nd, Bryan Holden 3rd, Graham Bond 4th and Andrew Thomas 5th.

It was a also a great morning for Neil Clarke too – he won nearest the pin in 2 on the 9th with a great drive onto the green leaving a birdie putt which he lagged to ensure his 3 and the NTP2 prize. But even better for Clarkey was his beloved Spurs winning something for the first time in 16 years – they won Neil £20 on the footy card 😉

Nearest the pin on hole 2 went to Rich Burgin – didnt take him long to get back on the winners podium – well done Rich.

Finally welcome back to our stalwart queen of the coffees, teas and bacon rolls – Sue as usual provided the very welcome pre match refreshments.

Long may all this continue !!! See you all in August for The Duncan King Memorial Trophy – a prestigious comp in memory of one of our former members, TM captain and all round top fella Duncan King. Be there !!
