The best team event of the club calendar – great fun with everybody able to contribute to the team effort. A pretty good turnout with 16 players playing in 4 teams of 4. Team Handicaps were set at 10% of the combined handicaps for each team. Every player tees off and the ‘best’ ball is decided upon and all players take their next shot from this position, again the ‘best’ second shot is selected and all play from that position, this continues until ball is in the hole and that score is carded. The catch……..every player has to have a minimum of 4 tee shots selected as the ‘best’ tee shot – NOT always the ‘best’ unfortunately but with 4 attempts at every shot and putt scoring should nonetheless be good with par at minimum being a good gross score.
Gross scoring was pretty good across all 4 teams with only 3 shots separating 1st (52 shots) to last (55shots) place – handicaps were pretty even too 6.3 shots to7.3 handicap across the 4 teams. Final scores (very close all round) were as follows :-
WINNERS – Jon Marsh, Bren Miles, Dave Standivan and Chris Davies – Gross 52 – 7.3 H/C = Net 44.7 shots
2nd Place – Greg Saunders, Bryan Holden, Adrian Lines and Neil Clarke – Gross 52 – 6.6 H/C = Net 45.4 shots
3rd Place – Neil Armstrong, Lee Wolvey, Graham Steele and Rob Walker – Gross 54 – 6.3 H/C = Net 47.7 shots
4th Place – Mike England, Mike Rutherford, Tony Whiting and Gary Beecham – Gross 54 – 7.1 H/C Net 47.9 shots
Congratulations to our winners this month. Although part of the 4th placed team 2 of that team were our nearest the pin winners – well done to Mike Rutherford (Hole #1) and Tony Whiting (Hole #6). Mike’s NTP was his 3rd in the last 2 competitions. Bryan Holden walked off with the £20 raffle prize……he always has to win something does Bryan !! 🙂
