Kingfisher Cup – Singles Stableford – April 23

Sunday April 16th. 16 members turned out for this singles stableford competition – a full handicap event. Again great to see new faces trying out the TM competitions for the first time. The current holder, Kevin McKenzie turned up to defend the title he won with 42 points in April 2022. Could he do it against a strong field.

Scoring was difficult in the damp conditions not helped by the serious amount of rain dropped in the last 6 weeks. Only 5 of the field played to their handicap scoring 36 points or more. It was tight at the top. Top 3 places were as follows…..

Bren Miles took 3rd place with 36 points beating both Neil Clarke and Kev McKenzie on count back. 2nd place was Adrian Lines with 38 points and this months winner, for his second competition victory of 2023 was Neil Armstrong with 41 points – congrats Neil.

Nearest the pins were holes 1 and 5 this month – after 32 attempts nobody managed to hit the first green !! He couldn’t defend his trophy but Hole 5 was won by Kevin McKenzie who also ran off with £20 raffle prize – not a bad mornings work for Kev and follows up his Grand National winning punts the day before. No doubt the bubbly Scotsman will buy us all a beer next time we’re in the pub !?

Thanks again Sue for the pre match bacon butts and warm drinks.
