Club Championships 2020

Over 20 members came to play in 2020 Club Championships – a record turnout for quite some time! It was great to see new faces playing their first TM competition too. Bacon rolls and coffee were back on the menu before the match – a huge thanks to Bryan Holden and Kim Tierney for running the kitchen and to Greg Saunders for sorting all the cards, scoring and administration on the day. Great job guys!

The weather was set fair and the course in pretty good condition BUT good scoring proved very difficult for most of us !! The competition was wide open and really invited somebody to take over from Danny Wiltshire our club champion of 2019.

In the end a superb round of 62 by Andrew Britten was just good enough to win the Gross Score Championship title beating last years champ Danny into second place on 64 and Tom Dearden in 3rd place on 70 strokes. Well done Andrew on back to back competition wins.

The Net Score (after handicap) competition was won by young Sam Davies in only his second competition start – he shot a net 50, well done Sam – beating Dave Standivan by 1 stroke in 2nd place and another newcomer Richard Burgin 54 strokes into 3rd place.

Nearest the pin winners were Jon Marsh (hole 3) and Gary Whiteside (hole 6). A special mention too to probably our youngest member Edward Marsh who also shot a net 54 – a real talent in the making, no doubt coached by his Dad Jon.
